Shri Murali Meher has been practicing the tie-dye Bandha designs and weaving for the past 5 decades. He started weaving at the age of 12 under the guidance of his father and his craft Guru national Award Winner Shri Harilal Meher and Kartika Meher. He has extensively worked in the field of Sambalpuri single and double ikat tie & dye weaving. Having been equipped with the self developed technical expertise of tie and dye , new designs market facilities acquired from visiting various exhibitions and organizations. Murali Meher started imparting training to hundreds of weavers from different villages of Bargarh district. The inspiration of Murali Meher has given a fresh lease of life to the weavers of the area who started weaving several sarees, dupatta and dress materials as a result of which their economic conditions improved substantially. He has been honoured by various prestigious award for his master craftsmanship and also received the Bunkar Samman Puraskar also which is the Glory of India.
